The Elyte provides an excellent option as an overall great driver. Although it doesn’t stand out in any attribute, it’s all round performance placed it high in the MyGolfSpy rankings for 2025 Drivers. The Triple Diamond variation also ranked 1st, suggesting that players looking for a low spin driver should consider this as a main option.

Condition ratings

Mint – Light marks on the sole. Crown and face virtually unmarked. Grip firm with full texture. Shaft straight with original finish.

Good – These clubs are still in great shape. The heads show evidence of play, though have been well looked after. You might find some usual play marks on the face and sole. There will be no pitting on the steel shafts or any signs of wear on graphite shafts. Grips will still feel tacky.

Fair – Our clubs rated ‘fair’ are still in good shape, but will show some cosmetic wear. Marks on the face will be from usual play and our drivers may show some light sky marks on the crown.

Well used – These clubs have been used a lot. The heads will show heavy signs of play – sky marks on drivers.There will be bag wear on the graphite shafts. Grips will be worn and may need replacing.

Face Condition

Deep scratches across the face — not just paint wear — can disrupt the engineered face geometry and affect ball speed and spin. Light impact zone wear is cosmetic only.

Crown dents or cracks

Any structural damage to the crown or body changes the acoustic properties and can compromise face flex at impact. Carbon face drivers are particularly sensitive to crown cracks.

Hosel and loft sleeve

A bent or worn hosel affects loft and lie angle. Adjustable sleeves with stripped threads or a seized mechanism lose all adjustability value — a key selling point on modern drivers.

Shaft condition

Graphite shafts with dents, flat spots, or repaired sections are structurally compromised and affect flex profile and feel. Surface scratches are cosmetic and do not affect performance.

Speed Pocket / sole slots

Packed or damaged sole slots (common on TaylorMade drivers) reduce face flex on low strikes. Debris can usually be cleaned out but cracks in the slot are a performance issue.

What to check before buying?

Face

Look at the face edge-on for bulges, cracks, or deep grooves

Light impact marks at the centre are normal — structural deformation is not

Crown

Run a finger across the crown for dents not visible in photos

Carbon crowns show damage differently to titanium — look for whitening or stress marks

Hosel

Check the adjustable sleeve moves freely through all settings

Seized or stripped sleeves are common and significantly reduce the club’s value

Sole weights

Confirm all weights are present and not rounded off

Missing or damaged weights on adjustable drivers are expensive to replace separately

Shaft

Sight down the shaft for straightness and check for flat spots

A repaired or re-shafted driver should be disclosed — check the ferrule for signs of work

Head-shaft join

Check for any movement or cracking at the ferrule

Any looseness here means the shaft bond has failed and the club is unsafe to use
