Benefits of Buying a Used Mizuno Driver

Premium driver designs at second hand prices

Buying used brings several generations of Mizuno drivers within reach of the same budget. You can compare an older model in cleaner condition with a more recent design, then spend according to the specification and features that help your game.

Options for different tee-shot problems

Mizuno’s range covers more than one type of golfer. ST-MAX prioritises stability, ST-X offers draw assistance, and ST-G includes lower-spin, adjustable designs. That gives you scope to choose around your usual miss, launch and strike pattern.

More budget for the right shaft and loft

A suitable shaft can make an older Mizuno a better purchase than a newer head with an uncomfortable build. Buying second hand lets you compare complete clubs by shaft model, weight, flex and playing length, alongside the head itself.

Clear grading and time to test

Photographs and condition grades help you decide how much cosmetic wear you are comfortable with. Our 30 day returns then give you time to assess the driver in your own game, including the swings you would prefer to forget.

How It Works

Every used Mizuno driver listed on Nearly New Golf Clubs is inspected before it goes live on the website. That means you can compare condition and specification more clearly when choosing a driver.

Checked before listing

Each Mizuno driver is reviewed before being uploaded to the website. The head, face, shaft and grip are checked, along with adjustable components where fitted, so the listing reflects the club’s condition as clearly as possible.

Clear condition grading

We grade every used Mizuno driver so you know what to expect before you buy. Whether a club is mint, very good or good, the aim is to make condition easy to understand before it reaches your bag.

Compare the right options

Compare Mizuno model, generation, loft, shaft model, flex, condition and price. Check the actual listing, because the same head can play differently with another shaft or setting.

Fast UK delivery

Order by 12pm and we will aim to dispatch your Mizuno driver quickly, so you can get it into play as soon as possible.

30 day returns

You need to feel comfortable with the club off the tee. That is why we offer 30 day returns, giving you time to make sure your Mizuno driver suits your game.

What Used Mizuno Driver Can You Get for Your Budget?

Mizuno’s used prices do not follow a simple progression from older, cheaper clubs to newer, more expensive ones. Different generations overlap, and selected ST-MAX examples can cost less than some earlier ST models. Use the bands below to build a shortlist, then compare the individual specifications.

Used Mizuno Drivers Under £100

Older models such as the MP-630, MX-500 and selected JPX 850 drivers can fall within this bracket. They provide an inexpensive route into the range for a first driver, a spare club or a change from an unsuitable starter-set build.

Prioritise a loft you can launch, a manageable shaft and a grip that suits your hands. An older model can still be useful, but compare it with options slightly above £100 before deciding.

Calculate the cost of any changes you already know you will need. Replacing the shaft or changing the grip size can reduce the saving from choosing the cheapest listing.

Used Mizuno Drivers £100 to £150

This bracket can include JPX 850 and ST200 drivers, alongside selected ST-MAX 230 examples. It is worth comparing across those generations before assuming a recent forgiveness-focused design is beyond your budget.

For a golfer seeking more consistent contact, an ST-MAX with a suitable shaft deserves consideration alongside an older adjustable head. For someone replacing a driver they already know suits them, a familiar model in better condition may be the more useful purchase.

Look at what the price difference buys. A preferred shaft or cleaner crown may matter more than additional weight adjustments you are unlikely to use.

Used Mizuno Drivers £150 to £250

ST-Z 220, ST-Z 230, ST-MAX 230 and selected ST-G drivers can overlap in this range. That creates a choice between different head designs, as well as generations.

Start by deciding what you need to improve. If your main problem is losing distance on mishits, compare the forgiving options first. If you have identified excessive spin from otherwise solid contact, a suitable ST-G may warrant a closer look.

Check the full ST-G model name. An earlier ST-G and the later ST-G 440 are different designs, so similar prices do not make them interchangeable.

Once you have chosen a head type, compare shaft weight, playing length and condition. There is little benefit in paying more for a club that needs an immediate shaft change.

Used Mizuno Drivers Over £250

More recent models, including selected JPX ONE SELECT drivers, can appear above £250. This is where you should have a clear reason for choosing a particular head and build.

A newer face design, preferred address shape or specific shaft may justify the extra spend. Compare those benefits with a suitable ST-series option before stretching your budget.

Do not treat SELECT as a higher specification that everyone should choose. Its shape and flight characteristics serve a different purpose from the standard JPX ONE. A lighter or softer shaft does not remove those differences.

Across every price band, confirm the included accessories and check our delivery information when comparing the total cost.

Used Mizuno Driver Buying Guide

Which Mizuno Driver Should You Consider?

Start with the result you want from the tee. The following are useful starting points for comparison.

These model roles reflect Mizuno’s design descriptions. They are starting points for testing, rather than guarantees about your ball flight.

ST-MAX 230: Start Here When Forgiveness Matters

Mizuno developed ST-MAX 230 around stability on off-centre strikes. Its wide, low-profile shape offers a substantial footprint behind the ball, making it a useful option to compare if inconsistent contact is costing you distance.

Judge it on the drives that miss the centre. Does a heel strike still clear the trouble? Does a toe strike finish close enough to your intended line to leave a manageable approach?

The model name can also be misleading when comparing age. ST-MAX 230 was introduced for 2024, while ST-Z 230 and ST-X 230 arrived in 2023. The “230” suffix alone does not identify the release year.

ST-Z or ST-X?

Compare Mizuno ST-Z drivers with ST-X options according to your normal shot pattern.

ST-X 230 places weight closer to the hosel and is designed to produce a draw tendency for many golfers. That may interest a player struggling with a fade or slice, but it does not make ST-X a beginner-only model. Mizuno has also documented stronger players choosing it because they preferred how it helped them turn the ball over.

Check the generation as well as the letter. An ST-X 220 and ST-X 230 should be compared as different clubs, with their own shafts and settings.

ST-G: Check the Generation and Weight Positions

ST-G is the part of Mizuno’s range to investigate when you want more control over weight placement. The ST-G 220 uses three tracks and two movable weights, while the later ST-G 440 combines a smaller head with a lower-spin design.

A used ST-G may arrive with settings chosen for its previous owner. Photograph those positions and identify what they are intended to do before evaluating the club.

More adjustment is useful when you have a clear fitting aim. If you already struggle to launch the ball, choosing the lowest-spin configuration can make that problem harder to solve.

JPX ONE or JPX ONE SELECT?

The standard JPX ONE has a larger footprint and places greater emphasis on stability. SELECT has a more compact-looking shape with a neutral-to-fade tendency. Both use Mizuno’s NANOALLOY face technology.

Both heads are listed at 460cc. SELECT’s compact appearance does not mean it has a smaller stated head volume. Mizuno also specifies a flatter lie range for SELECT, so the differences extend beyond how the crown looks.

Browse our Mizuno JPX ONE drivers and compare the exact version. Choose SELECT because its flight and setup suit you, rather than treating the name as an automatic upgrade.

Are Older JPX and ST Drivers Worth Considering?

Earlier JPX 850, JPX EZ, ST180, ST190 and ST200 drivers remain worth comparing when suitable examples are available.

Age helps you understand the design generation, but it does not tell you whether a particular club fits. Check loft, shaft and condition before ruling out an older model.

Be precise with names such as ST200, ST200G and ST200X. Mizuno offered different head designs within that family, with different intended flights.

How Do You Adjust a Mizuno Driver?

Many Mizuno drivers use the Quick Switch hosel. For example, ST-X 230 and JPX ONE offer a total loft adjustment range of four degrees. That is the full range, not four degrees in each direction.

Before adjusting:

• Confirm the exact model, stated loft and handedness.
• Photograph the current hosel setting and any movable weights.
• Follow Mizuno’s chart for that model.
• Use the correct adjustment tool.
• Change one setting before testing again.

If you plan to reuse a shaft, confirm the adapter and finished playing length. Do not assume compatibility from the Mizuno name alone.

Choose the Complete Club, Including Its Length

Compare shaft model, weight, flex and playing length together. Two listings with the same head and loft can feel different because of their shafts or previous alterations.

Ask whether the shaft has been shortened or extended if the listing is unclear. A standard specification found online may not describe the used club for sale.

Sound and feel matter too, but separate preference from performance. A satisfying impact sound should accompany the carry and control you need.

How Do Mizuno Drivers Compare With Other Brands?

Mizuno ST-MAX 230 vs Ping G430 MAX 10K

Both are relevant starting points when stability on imperfect strikes is your priority. Their designs aim to reduce the penalty from missing the centre, although the result still depends on the golfer and build.

Compare suitable options among our used Ping drivers. Assess the address shape, shaft and carry lost on your common mishits.

If the Mizuno leaves you with a similar pattern of playable drives at a lower asking price, that saving has a practical value. If the Ping reduces costly misses more consistently, compare that benefit with the price difference.

Mizuno ST-X 230 vs Cobra DarkSpeed MAX

These offer different routes to draw assistance. ST-X 230 uses heel-side weighting within its design, while DarkSpeed MAX lets you exchange back and heel weights to alter the balance between forgiveness and draw bias.

Browse our used Cobra drivers if you want to compare those approaches.

The useful question is how each changes your usual shot. Record starting direction and curvature separately. A driver that reduces a slice but introduces an unpredictable opposite miss may not improve your scoring.

Would a Mini Driver Fill a Different Role?

If your priority is a shorter club for selected tee shots, compare our used mini drivers.

Decide whether it would replace your driver or sit alongside it. Compare the distance and control with your existing fairway wood. A second tee club should give you a useful option on the course, rather than duplicate a shot you already have.

How to Test Your Used Mizuno Driver

Use our 30 Day Try Before You Buy Guarantee to compare your used Mizuno on the range and course, subject to the guarantee terms. Give it a clear job to prove, such as more reliable carry or fewer drives finishing in trouble.

Establish Your Starting Point

Record the head model, loft setting, shaft and any movable weight positions. Warm up, then alternate small groups of shots between the Mizuno and your current driver.

Use the same type of ball and a consistent target. Compare within the same session where possible so that weather and how you are swinging have less influence.

Test the Reason You Chose That Model

• ST-MAX: Compare the carry and direction of ordinary heel and toe strikes.
• ST-X: Check whether the draw tendency improves your usual curve without creating a new miss.
• ST-Z: Look for repeatable launch and carry across normal swings.
• ST-G: Assess height and carry alongside spin, including less centred contact.
• JPX ONE or SELECT: Check which shape helps you aim comfortably and whether the flight stays predictable.

Keep Launch, Carry and Roll Separate

A lower flight can look powerful but fall short of a hazard you previously carried. Compare carry first, then assess how useful the landing and roll are on your usual courses.

If you have no launch monitor, use familiar landing areas and note whether each driver leaves a playable next shot.

Test Settings Methodically

On an ST-G, establish what the current weight positions produce before moving them. With any adjustable Mizuno, test one hosel or weight change at a time.

Repeat promising results on another day before deciding. One good group of shots can reflect a temporary change in your swing.

Keep JPX ONE’s Face and the Ball Clean

For JPX ONE and SELECT, Mizuno advises removing dirt, sand and debris from both the face and ball before impact. Include that in your range routine so that you test the club under the intended conditions.

Finish with familiar tee shots on the course. Assess whether the driver helps you avoid your normal trouble and leaves approaches you would be happy to play again.

Condition Guide

Our condition guide explains the separate ratings for heads, shafts and grips. Use those grades alongside the photographs to assess the individual club.

For a Mizuno driver, check the crown, face, sole, shaft and grip. On adjustable models, confirm the fitted weights and any included headcover or tool. Cosmetic sole wear may matter less to you than a crown mark visible at address.

JPX ONE has a specific point worth understanding. Mizuno says fine face scratches can develop when balls carry sand or debris, and that these particular surface marks do not affect performance or safety. This guidance does not mean every type of face damage is cosmetic. Ask about any mark that is unclear in the photographs.
