What Used PXG Driver Can You Get for Your Budget?

PXG’s used prices overlap across generations, so a higher model number or newer release does not tell you the whole value of a listing. Compare the head, shaft, condition and any changes you would need to make.

These bands are a shopping guide. Individual prices and availability change as clubs enter and leave stock.

Used PXG Drivers Under £150

This budget can reach more than the entry-level 0211 range. Listings have also included 0811 GEN4, X+ Proto and selected 0311 GEN5 drivers below £150, giving you several designs to compare at a relatively modest price.

Start with loft and shaft suitability. A 12° driver with a lighter shaft serves a different need from a 9° head with a heavier stiff shaft, even if both cost the same. Choose the specification that gives you a realistic chance of producing useful carry.

Check playing length, grip size and the condition of fitted adjustable components. If you would immediately replace the shaft, buy additional weights or change the grip, include those costs before deciding the cheaper listing is better value.

Best use of this budget: finding a suitable older PXG for a first driver, a replacement club or an affordable change of setup.

Used PXG Drivers £150 to £300

This is a useful range for comparing GEN6 with Black Ops. Current listings include GEN6 examples around £180 to £230 and several Black Ops builds around £270 to £300, although the exact specification and condition determine each price.

Towards the lower end, compare standard 0311 GEN6 and XF models. Decide whether their different head shapes and fitting characteristics address your needs before spending more on a later generation.

Towards the upper end, Black Ops becomes a realistic option. The additional spend should buy something you value, such as a preferred head design, a shaft that suits your delivery or better condition. It should not simply buy a newer name.

Pay particular attention when comparing two listings with the same head. Different shaft weights, playing lengths and sole-weight configurations can make them noticeably different clubs.

Best use of this budget: comparing several recent PXG designs while keeping enough flexibility to prioritise the right build.

Used PXG Drivers Over £300

Above £300, identify what the individual listing offers over a lower-priced alternative. That could be a particular shaft, a cleaner grade or a specialised head, but none automatically guarantees better results.

Black Ops Tour-1 listings can sit either side of £300, so the Tour-1 name alone does not explain a higher price. PXG’s Secret Weapon mini driver can also appear in this bracket, but it should be assessed for the different role it would play in your bag.

Compare the used asking price with the current new price of the same model and specification. A large reduction from original launch price is less useful than knowing what an equivalent club would cost today.

If you are paying extra for a low-spin head, confirm that lower spin improves your carry and dispersion. If you are paying for a specific shaft, check its actual length and specification rather than relying on its reputation.

Best use of this budget: securing a particular setup that you have a clear reason to choose over the less expensive options.

Used PXG Driver Buying Guide

PXG 0211: Start With the Exact Generation

The PXG 0211 driver range is worth exploring if price and straightforward performance are your priorities.

Check the year as well as the 0211 name, because specifications and adjustment features differ between versions. The 2022 0211 driver, for example, has an adjustable hosel offering loft changes of up to 1.5° in either direction.

An affordable 0211 does not need to offer every adjustment found on a more expensive PXG to be useful. It needs to launch consistently, provide sufficient carry and leave you with manageable misses.

PXG 0811 and Proto: Earlier Models With Different Roles

Read the complete description, including X, XF or X+ where shown. These suffixes identify different designs, so two similarly priced 0811 listings should not be treated as interchangeable.

The adjustment layout also varies by model and generation. Check which weights are fitted and use instructions for that exact head. A setting described for a GEN4 driver may not translate directly to a GEN2 or Proto model.

PXG 0311 GEN5 and GEN6: Standard or XF?

Within the PXG 0311 driver range, distinguish the generation and the standard or XF head.

For GEN6, the standard 0311 has a more compact front-to-back profile and deeper face. The XF has a larger-looking, more symmetrical profile, giving golfers another option when forgiveness and confidence at address are priorities. Both use interchangeable sole weights.

Compare the two with similar lofts and shafts where possible. If you change head design, shaft weight and playing length together, you may struggle to identify which difference improves your results.

Black Ops, Tour-1 or Ultra-Lite?

The PXG Black Ops driver range contains distinct designs.

PXG lists the Ultra-Lite head at 189g, compared with 203g for the standard Black Ops and Tour-1. Those are head specifications, not the weight of the complete club, so the fitted shaft and grip still matter.

How Does the Newer PXG Lightning Range Fit In?

Lightning adds Max 10K+, Tour Mid, Tour and Max Lite options to PXG’s later driver range. These cover different priorities, including high stability, alternative tour-style profiles and lighter overall builds.

If comparing a used Lightning listing with Black Ops or GEN6, match the intended role first. A newer low-spin head is not automatically the right replacement for a forgiving model that already suits your strike pattern. Availability of individual Lightning models will depend on stock.

Understand the Fitted Weights Before Changing Them

PXG’s interchangeable weights can alter both the distribution of mass and the overall head weight. Those are different changes.

Moving the existing weights between ports retains the same total weight while changing where it sits. Replacing one with a heavier component also changes the total head weight and how the club feels.

The original Black Ops configuration uses two 2.5g weights and one 12.5g weight. A used example may have a different setup following a previous fitting. PXG also states that certain weight configurations can raise combined MOI above 10,000 g·cm², so that figure should not be assumed for every Black Ops listing.

Before buying extra weights, establish what is already installed and what you want to improve. More adjustment options only help if you can connect a change with better results.

Loft, Shaft and Playing Length: Check the Complete Build

Read the loft, shaft model, flex, weight and playing length together.

A softer shaft does not establish that the head has enough loft for your swing. Equally, a stiff shaft label does not tell you whether its weight and feel will suit your tempo.

Check whether the club has been shortened, extended or reshafted. Changes are not automatically a problem, but they mean the original factory specification may no longer describe the driver you are buying.

Record the hosel setting too. On PXG’s GEN5 adjustment system, the “PXG” marking represents standard loft with a flatter lie, while the dot marks the standard setting. The branding on the sleeve should not be mistaken for a universal neutral position. Use the adjustment guide for the specific generation.

Is the PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver Right for Your Bag?

The Secret Weapon has a 300cc head, 13° stated loft and a standard playing length of 43.75 inches. Its smaller head and shorter build make it a different proposition from a conventional full-size driver.

Consider it if you want to test an alternative tee club or a club that can also serve selected fairway shots. Check both roles separately: confidence from a tee does not establish that you can launch it reliably from the turf.

Compare our used mini drivers and assess the distance gap to your existing driver and fairway wood. It should earn its place through a useful shot you can repeat.

How Do PXG Drivers Compare With Other Brands?

PXG Black Ops vs Ping G430 MAX 10K

If forgiveness is your main priority, compare the standard Black Ops with a G430 MAX 10K from our used Ping drivers range.

One practical difference is the adjustment system. Black Ops offers interchangeable sole weights, while the G430 MAX 10K has a fixed rear weight alongside its adjustable hosel.

Compare the actual weight configurations, shafts and playing lengths. Then assess carry on your common mishits and the width of your landing pattern. Extra adjustment is useful when it produces a better fit, rather than simply adding more settings.

PXG Black Ops vs Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke MAX

The Paradym Ai Smoke MAX in our used Callaway drivers range is another relevant comparison. It combines a forgiving head shape with adjustable rear sliding weight, offering a different approach to flight adjustment from PXG’s interchangeable weights.

Keep the head types comparable. Standard Black Ops against Ai Smoke MAX is a more useful starting point than comparing standard Black Ops with Callaway’s more specialised Triple Diamond.

Choose between the complete clubs through launch, carry, dispersion and address confidence. Neither brand is the automatic winner for every swing.

How to Test Your Used PXG Driver

Record the Starting Configuration

Photograph the hosel setting and sole weights. Note the shaft model, flex and playing length.

Begin with the supplied configuration so you have a result to compare against. Changing the weights and hosel immediately makes it harder to understand what the club is doing.

Compare Carry and Playable Misses

Use the same ball type and target when comparing with your current driver. Alternate short sets after warming up.

With a launch monitor, record typical carry, launch, spin and left-to-right spread. Include ordinary mishits in the comparison. Without one, use a clear target corridor and judge whether each shot would leave a manageable next shot.

Test the Feature You Are Buying

• Standard Black Ops or XF: Does the club retain useful carry and direction when contact moves around the face?
• Tour-1: Does its flight improve your results without costing too much carry on less centred strikes?
• Ultra-Lite: Does the lighter build help you create speed while preserving balance and strike control?
• A different shaft: Does it remain comfortable and predictable as the session progresses?
• Secret Weapon: Does it provide a useful tee shot or fairway distance that your current clubs do not already cover?

Adjust One Variable at a Time

If you change a weight position, keep the hosel setting unchanged for that comparison. If you adjust loft, leave the weights alone initially.

Use the appropriate tool and instructions for the exact model. Keep a short record of the results so you can return to the setup that gave you the most dependable flight.

Condition Guide

Review the head, shaft and grip grades separately, alongside the photographs. NNGC’s condition scale explains the expected wear at each grade, including cosmetic marks on Fair-condition clubs.

For a PXG driver, check the crown, face, sole, shaft finish and fitted adjustable components. Confirm the grip size, playing length and any included headcover, wrench or additional weights in the listing.

A missing accessory and a missing fitted component are different issues. If the photographs or description leave either unclear, ask before ordering.
