ONE Length: a similar setup throughout the set

ONE Length irons are built around a common playing length, usually based on a 7 iron. Compared with conventional irons, that means shorter long irons and longer short irons.

The aim is to make posture and setup more repeatable. The trade-off is a different feel at both ends of the set, particularly when playing controlled shots with the pitching or gap wedge.

Cobra designs the heads and specifications around this system. A purpose-built ONE Length set is a better starting point than cutting conventional irons to matching lengths.

LTDx: forgiveness with a choice of length systems

LTDx is worth considering if you want help with distance and off-centre contact. ONE Length versions add the common-length setup, while conventional versions retain progressive shaft lengths.

If your long irons are difficult to strike, compare the two approaches. Easier contact is useful, but the longest iron still needs enough height and carry to cover a different distance from the club below it.

Our used Cobra hybrids offer another option if replacing one difficult long iron would solve the problem.

Forged TEC Copper: distance help in a slimmer shape

Forged TEC Copper uses hollow construction and a flexible face to add distance assistance without a large open cavity-back appearance.

It is worth trying if you prefer a relatively slim head but still want help retaining carry when contact moves away from the middle. Compare the distance of ordinary mishits as well as your best strikes.

The copper finish is an appearance choice. Choose the set around the head design, fitted shaft and condition rather than expecting the finish to change performance.

Forged TEC X: more help on imperfect strikes

Forged TEC X moves towards a more forgiving distance design. Its hollow, foam-filled construction and tungsten weighting support ball speed, feel and stability.

It is a useful comparison if you like the Forged TEC style but want more help when contact varies. Check launch and stopping power alongside distance, particularly with the longer irons.

Our current example includes a gap wedge. That can help connect the pitching wedge with your specialist wedges when moving to a stronger-lofted iron set.

King Tour and CB/MB: compact heads for consistent strikers

King Tour offers a compact cavity-back shape. A CB/MB combination set blends cavity-back and muscle-back heads, giving a more traditional players’ setup.

These designs suit golfers who value strike feedback and control over flight. They give less protection on poor contact than larger game-improvement models.

The shafts can make a substantial difference too. Our King Tour example has Modus 120 extra-stiff shafts, while the CB/MB set has the stiff version. If you use lightweight graphite now, compare the weight and feel before choosing either.

Leave useful gaps into your wedges

GW means gap wedge. It gives you another full-shot distance below pitching wedge, but the loft varies between models.

Compare the supplied PW and GW with your existing wedges before adding more clubs. Our used Cobra wedges give you options for filling the remaining distances or adding a different club for sand and greenside shots.

How to Test Your Used Cobra Irons

Use our 30 day returns to compare your Cobra irons with your current set on the range and course. Use the same type of ball and include your ordinary misses when judging the results.

• ONE Length setup: hit the longest iron, a middle iron and pitching wedge in the same session. Judge comfort and contact at both ends of the set.
• Long-iron flight: check that neighbouring irons produce distinct carry distances with enough height to be useful.
• Forged TEC and TEC X: compare carry on slightly toe-side and low-face strikes with your current irons.
• King Tour or CB/MB: include imperfect strikes when judging distance control. Try them from grass to assess turf contact.
• PW and GW: hit full and partial shots, then compare them with your first specialist wedge.
• Shaft and length: assess strike consistency and comfort late in a session, especially with heavier shafts or an extended build.

Mint condition Cobra irons show minimal signs of use. They may have been hit only a few times, if at all.
