Start with the type of iron you need

AP1 and AP2: choose around your contact

AP1 is the more forgiving starting point if your strike location varies. AP2 offers a smaller players’ shape with weighting assistance beyond a traditional muscle-back blade.

Compare the fitted build too. Our current 710 AP1 and AP2 examples both use regular steel shafts, but they have different lengths. The standard-length 714 AP2 example uses KBS Tour 120 stiff shafts.

AP3 and T200: distance in a sleeker shape

AP3 and T200 are worth comparing if you want distance assistance without moving to a larger game-improvement head.

Check the generation when comparing T200 sets. Construction and specifications have changed across releases. Our 2021 T200 example also includes a 48° wedge, which changes how the set fits alongside your existing wedges.

T150 and combination sets

T150 combines a compact forged shape with added speed assistance. It is worth considering if you like a players’ appearance but want more distance support.

In a combination set, a more forgiving long iron can be paired with smaller scoring irons. Check the supplied model split, then test the carry gap between the two clubs where the heads change.

T350: more help on imperfect strikes

The 2023 T350 uses hollow-body construction, a forged face and tungsten weighting to support launch, distance and forgiveness.

Consider it if ordinary mishits regularly leave your approaches short. Compare the height and stopping power you get as well as the distance gained.

CB and MB: compact traditional options

Titleist CB and MB irons suit golfers who prefer traditional players’ shapes. MB is the muscle-back option, with less protection on off-centre strikes.

Use your normal contact to judge them. Include your common misses when comparing them with AP2 or more forgiving T-Series models.

Check your wedge distances

An included 48° wedge can help bridge the gap between a strong-lofted pitching wedge and your specialist wedges.

For context, the factory pitching wedge in the 710 AP2 is 47°. A 48° wedge in a newer set may therefore cover a distance closer to an older pitching wedge. Compare actual carry before deciding which used Titleist wedges you need.

Match the longest iron to your game

A set starting at 4 iron gives you more long-iron coverage, but those clubs still need enough height and carry to earn their place.

If the longest iron flies too low or carries little farther than the next club, compare a used Titleist hybrid. A shorter iron set can work well when hybrids already cover your longer approaches.

How to Test Your Used Titleist Irons

Use our 30 day returns period to compare the set with your current irons on the range and course.

• Compare ordinary mishits. With AP1 or T350, assess whether more approaches reach a useful distance.
• Check the cost of off-centre contact. With AP2, T150, CB or MB, include your typical misses when judging consistency.
• Test combination-set transitions. Hit the last club in one model alongside the first club in the next.
• Try the sole from grass. Compare strike and turf contact from the lies you normally encounter.
• Assess shaft feel over a session. Notice whether the weight and flex help you repeat your swing as you tire.
• Measure the shorter distances. Compare PW, any included 48° wedge and your specialist wedges on full and controlled shots.
• Check your longest iron. Confirm it provides a distinct carry gap and enough height to hold a green.

Condition Guide

Every used Titleist iron set is individually checked and graded so you know what to expect before you buy. Heads, shafts and grips receive separate grades, so their condition can differ within the same set.

Mint condition

Mint condition Titleist iron heads show minimal signs of use. They may have been hit only a few times, if at all.
Faces: little to no visible strike wear
Soles: clean with minimal marks
Backs and toplines: little to no visible marking
Shafts and grips: close to new condition when also graded mint

Very good condition

Very good condition Titleist iron heads show light use but remain clean overall.
Faces: light strike marks
Soles: small marks from limited play
Backs and toplines: minor cosmetic marks may be visible
Shafts and grips: light signs of use when also graded very good

Good condition

Good condition Titleist iron heads show normal signs of play but remain fully usable.
