0211 DC: distance assistance at a smaller budget

0211 DC is a useful starting point if you want PXG technology without the price of a recent 0311 set. Its DualCOR system supports the thin face to help ball speed and feel.

Our current right-handed example includes a gap wedge and has a half-inch extension. Compare that length with your current clubs before deciding whether the package suits you.

P, XP and T: choose around your contact

The letters identify different design priorities within the relevant 0311 generation.

XP is worth considering if contact varies across the face and mishits leave approaches short. P offers a middle route if you want distance help without as much visible bulk. T is more relevant if you prefer a compact shape and already find the centre consistently.

Compare the exact generation too. Head construction, lofts and specifications change between releases.

GEN7 lofts: compare flight as well as distance

GEN7 P and XP have different factory lofts:

Those differences affect how you compare the sets. A longer 7-iron shot may partly reflect a stronger loft, so check height and stopping power alongside carry.

The shorter clubs need attention too. Moving between P and XP can change the gap from your pitching wedge to your existing specialist wedges.

Black Ops: a forgiving game-improvement option

PXG Black Ops irons use a dual-cavity design to move weight towards the perimeter and place the centre of gravity lower and farther back.

That makes them worth trying if uneven contact is costing you distance or a larger head gives you more confidence. Compare how much carry you retain on ordinary heel-side, toe-side and low-face strikes.

Choose a shaft you can swing comfortably

SteelFiber i70, Elevate 95, Modus 105 and Dynamic Gold 120 are different shaft builds. A regular-flex label alone does not tell you how two sets will feel.

Compare weight, timing and comfort throughout a session. If your current shafts feel heavy late in a round, a different build may help more than changing head generation.

Treat the head weights as part of the fitted build

PXG’s GEN7 central weight is used during fitting to tune swing weight, meaning how heavy the head feels as you swing. PXG states that this weighting is not intended to be adjusted after purchase.

Choose a supplied build that feels comfortable rather than planning to change the weights yourself. Ask us about the specification if the swing feel is an important part of your decision.

Connect your longest iron with the rest of the bag

A 4–PW package gives you more long-iron coverage than a 6–PW set. Those extra clubs are useful only if they produce reliable, distinct distances.

If your longest irons fly low or overlap in carry, our used hybrids offer another way to cover those approaches.

Make the gap wedge earn its place

A supplied GW can help bridge the distance between pitching wedge and your specialist wedges. Its value depends on the model’s loft and how far you hit it.

Mint condition

Mint condition PXG irons show minimal signs of use. They may have been hit only a few times, if at all.

Faces: little to no visible strike wear
Soles: clean with minimal marks
Backs and toplines: clean with little to no visible marking
Shafts and grips: close to new condition when also graded mint

Very good condition

Very good condition PXG irons show light use but remain clean overall.

Faces: light strike marks
Soles: small marks from limited play
Backs and toplines: minor cosmetic marks may be visible
Shafts and grips: light signs of use when also graded very good

Good condition

Good condition PXG irons show normal signs of play and have been well looked after.

Faces and soles: visible play marks
Backs and toplines: cosmetic marks from play or contact in the bag may be visible
Shafts: slight marking may be present when graded good
Grips: good condition with retained tackiness when graded good
