Each shaft is reviewed before being uploaded to the website. The full shaft is checked for damage, including around the tip and adapter, while the grip, sleeve and available length are also assessed where fitted.

Clear condition grading

We grade every used graphite shaft so you know what to expect before you buy. The aim is to separate normal cosmetic wear from damage that could affect the shaft’s safe use or installation. Our condition guide explains the grading used across the site.

Flex labels vary

Regular, stiff and extra stiff are not standard measurements across manufacturers. One regular shaft can feel firmer than another stiff model. Compare the full product code and use a shaft that already works as a reference.

Weight changes speed and control

A lighter shaft can help some golfers create speed and height. It can also make the head harder to feel for an aggressive transition. A heavier shaft can improve awareness and timing for faster swing speeds but may reduce speed or launch when it requires too much effort.

Bend profile and launch

A softer tip and lower bend point tend to support higher launch, while a stiffer tip and higher bend profile tend to reduce dynamic loft and spin. These are tendencies because the golfer’s delivery and head loft still control the ball flight.

Torque and feel

Torque describes the shaft’s resistance to twisting. Lower-torque shafts often feel firmer and can suit faster transitions. Higher-torque designs can feel smoother. Torque alone does not determine accuracy; consistent loading and face delivery matter more.

Driver, fairway and hybrid shafts

Driver shafts are normally longest. Fairway shafts may be tip-trimmed and built heavier to control a shorter club. Hybrid shafts use different tip sizes and are shorter again. Transferring a shaft without following trimming guidance can change the effective flex.

Graphite iron shafts

A graphite iron set should progress consistently in length and weight. Confirm whether the listing contains one shaft or a set, the tip diameter and which iron each shaft has been prepared for. Moving a trimmed shaft to another iron can alter both length and playing characteristics.

Adapters and finished length

An installed sleeve must fit the intended head. Adapter depth and head hosel design affect the final playing length. Removing a sleeve with excess heat or over-preparing the tip can damage graphite fibres, so professional work is recommended.

Adapter systems vary across brands. Compare the relevant Callaway drivers, TaylorMade drivers, Ping drivers or Cobra drivers before moving a shaft between heads.

Every used graphite golf shaft is individually checked and graded so you know what to expect before you buy.

Mint condition

Mint condition shafts show minimal signs of use.

• Finish: little to no visible marking
• Tip and adapter: very clean condition where fitted
• Grip: close to new condition

Very good condition

Very good condition shafts show light use but remain clean overall.

• Finish: light cosmetic marks may be visible
• Tip and adapter: very good condition where fitted
• Grip: light signs of use

Good condition

Good condition shafts show normal signs of previous use but remain fully usable.

• Finish: visible cosmetic rub marks or paint wear may be present
• Tip and adapter: normal signs of previous fitting where applicable
• Grip: usable or replaced where needed

Cosmetic paint wear does not stop a structurally sound graphite shaft performing. Cracks, splintering, raised fibres and significant tip damage are different and are checked before listing.
