A good women’s golf wedge set gives you better control on approach shots, chips, pitches and bunker shots. Instead of relying on one wedge for every short game situation, the right set gives you clearer distance gaps and more shot options around the green.

Benefits of Second Hand Ladies Wedge Sets

Buying second hand ladies wedge sets is a smart way to improve your scoring clubs without paying full new-club prices. Wedge sets can be expensive when bought new, but many used ladies wedge sets still offer excellent short game performance when properly inspected and graded.

Here’s why used ladies golf wedge sets make sense.

Better value than buying new

New wedge sets can cost a lot, especially if you want two or three wedges from a trusted brand. Choosing a used ladies wedge set gives you a more affordable way to improve your short game.

This is useful if you want better gapping below your pitching wedge without buying each wedge separately at full price.

Better short game control

A wedge set gives you more options around the green. Different lofts help you play different shots, from lower chips to higher bunker shots and soft-landing pitches.

That means fewer awkward half-swings and more confidence from scoring distances.

More consistent loft gaps

Many golfers carry wedges with poor gaps. That can leave difficult in-between distances where one wedge goes too far and another comes up short.

A ladies golf wedge set helps create a more logical structure between your pitching wedge, gap wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge.

Easier than buying wedges one by one

Buying individual wedges can work well, but it also increases the risk of poor loft gaps, mismatched shafts or inconsistent feel.

A used ladies wedge set can give you a more connected setup, especially if the wedges are from the same model range.

How It Works

Every ladies golf wedge set listed on Nearly New Golf Clubs is inspected before it goes live on the website. That means you can browse with a clearer view of condition, specification and price before choosing the wedge set that suits your short game.

Checked before listing

Each ladies wedge set is reviewed before being uploaded to the website. The heads, faces, grooves, soles, shafts and grips are checked so the listing reflects the set’s condition as clearly as possible.

Ladies Wedge Set Buying Guide

Choosing the right ladies wedge set starts with your current pitching wedge, the shots you play most often and the distance gaps you need to cover.

Wedges are scoring clubs. They help with shorter approach shots, bunker shots, chips, pitches and shots where distance control matters.

The right women’s golf wedge set should give you clear loft gaps and make short game decisions easier.

Beginner wedge sets

If you are newer to golf, keep the setup simple. You may not need every wedge straight away.

A beginner ladies wedge set should help you cover the main short game situations without making club choice confusing. A gap wedge and sand wedge can be a strong starting point.

Once your short game improves, you may decide to add a lob wedge for higher, softer shots.

Short game control

A wedge set gives you more control because each wedge has a different job. Lower lofted wedges are useful for fuller shots and lower chips. Higher lofted wedges are useful for bunker shots, soft pitches and shots that need more height.

The aim is not to carry more clubs for the sake of it. The aim is to make each scoring distance easier to manage.

Gapping your wedges

Good wedge gapping means each wedge produces a useful, separate distance. If two wedges go almost the same distance, one of them is probably wasted.

Most golfers want steady gaps between their pitching wedge, gap wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge. This helps avoid uncomfortable half-shots.

What Lofts Should a Women’s Wedge Set Include?

The right lofts depend on your pitching wedge and how many wedges you want to carry.

Many golfers use two or three specialist wedges below their pitching wedge. The most common setups include a gap wedge, sand wedge and sometimes a lob wedge.

Two wedge sets

A two wedge set is simple and practical. It usually includes a gap wedge and sand wedge, or a sand wedge and lob wedge depending on what is already in your iron set.

A common setup might be:

50 or 52 degree gap wedge
54 or 56 degree sand wedge

This works well if you want better gapping without carrying too many short game clubs.

Three wedge sets

A three wedge set gives you more short game options. It usually includes a gap wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge.

A common setup might be:

50 or 52 degree gap wedge
54 or 56 degree sand wedge
58 or 60 degree lob wedge

This can help if you play a lot of short shots around the green and want more control over height and distance.

Gap wedge

A gap wedge sits between your pitching wedge and sand wedge. It is useful for full approach shots, controlled pitches and lower running chips.

If you often feel stuck between pitching wedge and sand wedge, a gap wedge is likely the missing club.

Sand wedge

A sand wedge is one of the most useful wedges in the bag. It can be used from bunkers, fairways, rough and around the green.

For many golfers, the sand wedge becomes the main short game club because it offers a good mix of loft and control.

Lob wedge

A lob wedge has the most loft and is used for higher, softer shots. It can be useful when you need to stop the ball quickly or play over a bunker.

A lob wedge can be helpful, but it is usually harder to control than a gap wedge or sand wedge. It is best added when you are confident with your basic wedge setup.

50 to 52 degree wedges

Wedges in the 50 to 52 degree range are usually used as gap wedges. They help bridge the distance between a pitching wedge and sand wedge.

These are useful for controlled approach shots and lower short game shots.

54 to 56 degree wedges

Wedges in the 54 to 56 degree range are usually used as sand wedges. They are versatile enough for bunker shots, chips, pitches and shorter approach shots.

For many golfers, this is the most useful loft range to have.

58 to 60 degree wedges

Wedges in the 58 to 60 degree range are usually used as lob wedges. They are designed for higher shots that stop more quickly.

They can be useful around the green, but they need good control. Beginners may be better starting with lower lofted wedges first.

Bounce and grind

Bounce affects how the wedge interacts with the ground or sand. More bounce can help in softer conditions or for steeper swings. Less bounce can suit firmer turf or shallower swings.

Grind refers to the sole shape. It can affect how easily you open the face or play different shot types.

Ladies Wedge Set vs Individual Wedges

A ladies wedge set is usually best if you want a connected setup with sensible loft gaps. Individual wedges are better if you need to replace one specific club or fine-tune part of the bag.

Choose a ladies wedge set if:

You need more than one wedge
You want better loft gaps
You want a matching feel across wedges
You are rebuilding your short game setup
You want better value than buying separately

Choose individual wedges if:

You only need one loft
You already have a good wedge setup
You want a specific bounce or grind
You are replacing a worn wedge
You know exactly what shot you need to improve

For many golfers, a used ladies golf wedge set is the simplest way to build a solid short game setup.

Faces and grooves: little to no visible strike wear
Soles: clean with minimal marks
Shafts and grips: close to new condition

Very good condition

Very good condition wedge sets show light use but remain clean overall.

Faces and grooves: light strike marks
Soles: small marks from limited play
Shafts and grips: very good condition with light signs of use

Good condition

Good condition wedge sets show normal signs of play but remain fully usable.

Faces and grooves: visible wear from regular use
Soles: normal marks from turf and sand
Shafts: possible light bag wear
Grips: usable or replaced where needed

Cosmetic wear does not stop a wedge set performing. Groove condition is especially important, so every used ladies wedge set is checked before being listed.
