Rating the condition of golf equipment properly is something we take very seriously at Nearly New. We strive to ensure that our customers are fully satisfied and we take time to individually inspect each club on arrival at our HQ.
Whether you’re looking to buy or sell, we’ve put together our condition ratings guide to help you understand what each condition means. How we rate our clubs:
Heads
- 10/10 – Brand new: Unused, may be in or out of original wrapping
This club will never have been used, it may or may not have the original wrapper on it. Either way, these clubs will be brand new and will have never hit a golf ball.
- 9/10 – Mint condition
The head will be in absolutely top grade condition. It will have hit a maximum of 1 or 2 balls. There may be very minimal signs of ‘shop wear’. 9/10s are little nuggets of gold, you’ll be buying a basically brand new golf club at a discounted price!
- 8/10 – Very good condition
Our clubs rated ‘very good’ will have only been used a handful of times – 2/3rounds at most. Any marks would be very minimal, like our clubs rated 9/10 these resemble the very top end of used golf equipment.
- 7/10 – Good condition
When buying a club rated 7/10, you’ll still be buying a golf club in very good condition. These heads show evidence of play, though have been well looked after. You might find some usual play marks on the face and sole.
- 6/10 – Fair
We strive to buy top quality golf equipment and rate modestly, therefore this is our most common grading. Our clubs rated ‘fair’ are still in good shape, but will show some cosmetic wear. Marks on the face will be from usual play and our drivers/woods may show some sky marks on the crown.
- 5/10 – Well-used
We don’t buy many well used golf clubs, but if we do we’ll let you know why. These clubs will be in good order, but will show some heavy signs of play. That may be heavy wear marks on the fact or sky marks on the crown. There will be no dents on the club.
Shafts
- 10/10 – Brand new
The shaft will never have been used and there will be no marks at all.
- 9/10 – Mint condition
The shaft does not appear to have been used, there may be very small signs of marks from display in pro shops, etc.
- 8/10 – Very good condition
The shaft will be in top condition and the club would have been used for a handful of rounds at most. The shaft may show very faint signs of marking.
- 7/10 – Good condition
The shafts themselves are in good order! There may be some slight marking and one or two of the stickers may be slightly frayed..
- 6/10 – Fair
These shafts are in good order but there will be some cosmetic wear. Steel shafts could have a few small marks or rust spots and graphite shafts may show some bag wear.
- 5/10 – Well-used
These shafts are still in playable condition but ares showing signs of heavy use. Steel shafts could have heavy rust spots or pitting to the shaft. Graphite shafts could show some heavy bag wear. All purely cosmetic, there will be no actual damage.
Grips
- 10/10 – Brand new
The grip will have never been used and the original packaging may or may not be intact.
- 9/10 – Mint condition
The grip will be in absolutely top grade condition. It most probably would have never been used, though the original packaging will not be in place.
- 8/10 – Very good condition
The grip will be in great condition, it will feel almost new and would have been used only a handful of times.
- 7/10 – Good condition
The grip will be in good condition, it will feel tacky and there will be no surface wear.
- 6/10 – Fair
Still plenty of life left in these grips, however some may have started to wear and lose some tackiness.
- 5/10 – Well-used
Any grip under a 6/10 will be replaced.

Orders placed before 12pm
We offer free next working day delivery to all mainland UK addresses via DPD on orders over £100, once your order is placed, you will receive an email from DPD notifying you of your tracking details and order progress. Orders under £100 will be subject to a £3.99 delivery charge.
Orders placed after 12pm
Orders placed after midday will be dispatched with DPD the next working day, for delivery the day after.
Free delivery to the Scottish Highlands & Northern Ireland
Please allow 1-2 working days for delivery to the Scottish Highlands and Northern Ireland. Orders will be dispatched with Parcelforce, if you’d like to keep up to date with your delivery, you can enter your tracking number here: https://www.parcelforce.com/track-trace.

European shipping
We’re excited to announce we now offer shipping to most European destinations. European deliveries are sent via DPD or Parcelforce. As with our UK deliveries, orders placed by 12pm will be dispatched the same day, orders placed after midday will be dispatched the next working day.
